Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
