Web poker has become world famous recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the first poker game have been developed, including some games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to 21 than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the bank rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or other types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up just before the croupier declares "No further bets." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other gamblers acquire 5 cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s initial card, you need to either make a call bet or bow out. The call bet’s value is on same level to your beginning ante, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your wager goes instantly to the bank. After the bet is the showdown. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus an amount in accordance with the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays money even with your wager and fixed expectations on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
