Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
