Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
